What is MPSC ?
Mobile Phone Seizure Certification is a best practice review of how to seize
and preserve cell phones and the evidence they contain. This training will
cover where evidence may be found on the phone, how to preserve that
evidence, as well as how to properly transport and package cell phones for
examinations.
The instruction, which is not product specific, is geared toward law
enforcement officers at any level. Those who take the course will have the
opportunity to take a written examination at the end of the class and those
who pass the exam will receive the certification.
MPSC Background
Created by BKForensics, the course was developed after team members
recognized a need for this type of training and certification within the law
enforcement community.
Special thanks to Pam King (former FBI Computer Analysis and Response
Team (CART) examiner) and Dr. D'Ovidio, assistant professor in Drexel
University's Criminal Justice Program.

As cell phones become increasingly officiated and more like portable
computing devices that nearly everyone has, the information they contain
can be crucial to criminal investigations.
The course was drafted by members of the law enforcement and academic
community.  In addition to providing best practices for cell phone seizure,
the course has been designed to help prevent problems such as when the
cell phone arrives in labs for examinations with dead batteries, or are still
connected to the network provider.
Forensics welcomes input and support on keeping this training and
certification current for the law enforcement community.
This training has been endorsed by the Electronic Crime Partnership
Initiative and will be offered free to all law enforcement.
